CAPK Head Start 
Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) is Kern County’s official provider of Head Start and Early Head Start services, offering high-quality early childhood education to children ages 0 to 5. With a deep commitment to equity and inclusion, CAPK Head Start celebrates the linguistic, ethnic, and cultural diversity of the families it serves. The program operates 33 centers across Kern County and 8 in San Joaquin County, providing both center-based and home-based options to meet families where they are.

What We Do
Building Bright Futures
CAPK Head Start delivers comprehensive early learning and family support through:
School Readiness: Developmentally appropriate education that prepares children for kindergarten
Health & Nutrition: Daily meals, health screenings, and wellness support
Family Engagement: Home visits, parent leadership through Policy Council, and CAPK Board participation
Inclusive Services: Support for children with physical and mental disabilities
Extended Hours: California State Preschool funding expands access for working families
Safe Environments: Enhanced health protocols including PPE, staggered schedules, and CDC-approved disinfectants
By partnering with parents, caregivers, and educators, CAPK Head Start creates nurturing environments where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
