Description

Howdy Fellow Helpers and Do-Gooders!

The Food Bank is back with a beautiful and free farmer's market distribution, and we are in need of more hands to help us serve our neighbors! We’ve been blessed with an abundance of fresh produce and we are excited to get it out on Wednesday 7/1 right before America's 250th Birthday!

We will have rolling volunteer shifts available from 7:30a - 12:00p right here at the Food Bank. Whether you can stay for the whole shift, or only come for a little bit, we would be so grateful to have your help.

We will start with setting up and getting our intake team out at 7:30a and we will distribute the food from 8:00a - 11:00a, followed by clean up from 11:00a - 12:00p.

Volunteers will be working outdoors alongside our staff to help distribute produce to neighbors who drive or walk up for food.

We will need support in the following stations:

  • Check-In's
  • Traffic Control
  • Box Building/ Distributing
  • Food Stations
  • Clean Up

Temperatures are expected to rise, so volunteers are welcome to wear knee-length shorts, hats, and other sun-protective clothing. Sunscreen is strongly encouraged. Water, electrolytes, shade canopies, and rest areas will be available throughout the event. Most importantly, please remember to take care of yourself and one another by staying hydrated and taking breaks as needed. We are grateful for your support and want everyone to stay safe while we serve our community.

What to Wear?

Closed toed, non-slip shoes are required! Just please no UGGS or CROCS as they pose as a slip/trip hazard and we want to make sure everyone stays safe while on site.

Got Gloves? Bring'em! Folks tend to find these helpful when breaking down cardboard and sorting through product.

Where to meet?

You can find us at 1807 Feliz Drive, behind The American Job Center, but we encourage you to use our directions below to better find the front of our warehouse. Google and Apple maps tends to send folks on a little side quest to the back of our warehouse or to another part of the neighborhood all together.

Please note that if you do end up at the back of our warehouse you'll need to go around to the front as the back gate is only available for our delivery trucks to enter through.

1. Take Exit 24 to merge onto CA-58 toward Mojave

2. Take Exit 113 for Martin Luther King Blvd South

3. Take the second left onto E. Belle Terrace

4. Continue to the end of E. Belle Terrace and follow the curve to the left

5. The Food Bank will be on the right-hand side of the road - WooWhoo! You have arrived!

Thank you again for choosing to volunteer with us here The CAPK Food Bank. We serve 2 million pounds of food each and every month, and that wouldn't be possible without the help of each and every one of you.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Ashley, and we'll make sure y'all will have everything you need to succeed!
