Welcome neighbors and do-gooders looking to help us fight food insecurity one donation at a time!
Join Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) at the Kern County Fair for our annual Feed the Need food drive. As a Main Gate Volunteer, you'll be one of the first people fairgoers meet as they arrive. Volunteers will welcome guests, collect non-perishable food donations, answer basic questions about the event, and help create a fun, positive experience while supporting families throughout Kern County.
Kindly Note: The Main Gate serves as the primary entrance for our event and is frequently visited by local media. News crews may be onsite throughout the event, and volunteers at this location may appear in photographs or television coverage. We encourage volunteers to dress comfortably while representing CAPK in a clean, neat, and professional manner. Most importantly, come ready to smile, have fun, and help us make a positive impact in our community!

***Map attached for your reference - Everyone will meet at the Gold Star listed on the map at the South P Street entrance to get checked in for their shift***
Volunteer Shifts Available:
4:00 p.m – 6:00 p.m.
6:00 p.m – 8:00 p.m.
8:00 p.m – 10:00 p.m.
What to Wear:
This opportunity takes place outdoors. Please dress comfortably for the weather, wear closed-toe shoes, and bring sunscreen or a hat if desired. Late September in Bakersfield can still be very warm, so we encourage volunteers to stay hydrated. Water and light snacks will be provided throughout your shift. If you would like a meal, please plan to bring your own.
